After I did an update via ampinstmgr -p, my servers would not run complaining I did not have a license. I had to manually downgrade the instance to 1412 from the 1464 it upgraded it to, thank god I still had the AMP cache files.

What's up?

The licence system was changed in v1440 requiring many instances to be re-activated. It was a change to some of the fallback mechanisms used to make the system less likely to accidentally deactivate.

Wouldn't it have made more sense to have the system one time reactivate? I see no strait forward way with ampinstmgr to have it reactivate.

You can:

./AMP_Linux_x86_64 +Core.AMP.LicenceKey YOURKEYHERE -configonly

From an instance directory.
